Youth Conference

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go with the young men and young women to youth conference. It was so great! We started out the trip by attending the Provo Temple and spent the morning doing baptisms for the dead. I have gone on many of the temple trips with our youth and this is totally, without a doubt my favorite thing to do with these amazing young people. This trip we had quite a few first timers and I especially loved observing them. They had smiles on their faces and a peacefulness about them that only comes from attending the temple. When we heard that our appointment required us to get up at 4:00 a.m. There were many a moan of complaint, but it was the perfect way to start out the day and the Youth Conference. I can't put all the emotion I had that morning into words. It was nothing short of amazing.

All of us at the Provo Temple

After we completed our temple trip we headed home for some lunch and last minute packing before heading off to Manti Canyon where we spent the remainder of YC. After getting up at 4:AM we then went all day and all night. Our ward took in the Manti Pageant that night. One of the young men put it best when he said we had a 22+ hour day. No kidding. It was well worth it.

The next day was filled with free time for the youth to fish, canoe, play games, eat (of course) and get to know each other better. Then in the evening we had our devotional and testimony meeting. It was another experience to remember. Our youth are so great and I feel blessed to be in a calling where I get to spend so much time with them. They are such examples of love and kindness.

On Saturday morning (after another fun, late night) we got up early and packed up to head home. It was bitter sweet. The up and coming shower at home sounded so good, but this also meant that YC was over for another year. As leaders we also know that it may be our last, as callings will likely change and this makes us all very emotional.

Thanks to all of those people that made YC such a success! We know this was a challenge and appreciate your hard work. Thanks to the youth for being such great kids. I really look up to you!
