{Our Annual "Fry" Day}

I know, I know this is a really odd post! I have to share with you a little tradition that my sisters, mom and I share. Each year when the tomatoes are good, we get together and make Fried Green Tomatoes. They are so yummy and with a little fresh salsa or homemade ranch they are better than just about anything! We also make other fired foods like deep fried zucchini, fresh french fries or another favorite, fried pickles. It is so much fun being in the kitchen, cooking and chatting about everything and nothing all at the same time. I love my family and wouldn't trade our corky little traditions for anything. Thanks for the fun girls!

If you are interested, here is my recipe to Fried Green Tomatoes:

1 egg, beaten
1 cup of Buttermilk (optional)
1 Cup of Flour
1/3 Cup of cornmeal
1/2 tsp. of Salt
6 to 8 green tomatoes, cut into 1/4" slices
Bacon Grease

Mix the egg and buttermilk in a shallow bowl. Mix the four, cornmeal and salt in another dish. Working in batches, dip the egg slices in egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off. Then coat in flour mixture. Fry in hot bacon, until brown, turning once. Sprinkle with salt to taste and enjoy.

I've never met a fried food I didn't like. I wish there was some diet out there where I could eat only fried food and ice cream and be really skinny. That would be AWESOME!

Weeza...next time you make them don't forget me! I would love to try fried green tomatoes. But, no one else in my family will eat them and it's just too much work for just me! haha. Am I sounding lazy or what? I worked last night! Wahhh!
