Our Little Strawberry Batch

Spring is such an exciting time filled with new beginnings and signs of life returning to dried out old plants. Each year as the snow melts we begin our daily checks on our little strawberry batch. It is so fun to see the green return, then the little white blossoms which are followed by little green berries. It seems the next step is the one that takes the longest; waiting for them to turn red. Oh how the kids love to check on the strawberries, and not just my kids but all kids in the neighborhood that know where to find them.

When we did our daily check yesterday, to our delight we found two completely ripe strawberries just screaming to be picked and gobbled up. Lexi & Rowen were ecstatic to say the least. I had to take a picture to show off our little berries before they were picked and eaten. Did I mention how good they taste? It is hard to describe how much better they taste than the ones you buy. I really have to say this is a fun way to get your kids excited about gardening.

There is NOTHING better then fresh stawberries warmed by the sun. I may just have to sneak over in the middle of the night and get me some. j/k.

How fun. My Grandma had a strawberry patch, and that was one of the highlights every summer. You are making good memories for your kids.
