{What am I going to do with that girl?}

I found out today that Lexi had her first kiss a couple of days before school got out! She has a crush on a little boy named Nathan in her class. She talks about him daily...I mean at least five times daily. She asks me if she can go visit him, if I can call the school to see if they can be in the same class next year and so on. I didn't think too much of it, but have talked to her about the fact that she is just a little girl and that things should be just friendly. Well today a friend of mine told me that she kissed a boy in the first grade bathroom. First thought..."was he in the girls bathroom, or was she in the boys bathroom?" Turns out thankfully it was in front of the bathroom. This is how the conversation went:

Me: "Lexi did you kiss a Nathan at school?"
Lexi: "No."
Me: "Someone told me that you did."
Lexi "Okay mom I did, but I just couldn't help myself he is just so cute!"
Me: (Trying not to laugh.) "Lexi you are too little to be kissing boys. You don't do those things until you are married to them."
Lexi: "It just happened that one time mom I promise."
Me: "Okay, just don't be doing it again until you are much older."

I seriously laughed so hard when she was gone! Then I thought "What in the heck I am going to do with her when she is a teenager?!" I hope that she gets this out of her system before then. She is such a good girl...I just want her to stay that way. I love her and cherish these funny little things she does. I'll just have to keep teaching her the importance to good choices.
