{I Love To See The Temple}

On Friday, June 5th we had the opportunity to tour the recently completed Oquirrh Mountain Temple. What a beautiful building! Before I tell you anymore about our experience, I want to share my first memory of visiting a temple as a child. My family toured the Manti Temple before they rededicated it years ago. I remember the very long lines that stretched around the temple and down onto the street. While the lines seemed to never move, once we were inside of the temple all was forgotten and I was in awe at the beautiful surroundings. I remember absolutely loving everything. I am so glad that my family made that trip. My second temple open house was right after I graduated from high school. My dear friend Laura and I went to see the Mount Timpangos Temple. Again, I remember the longer lines, but I also remember the spirit of the experience. That was when I decided that I wanted to be married in that particular temple. A few years later Brad and I were sealed for all time and eternity there. While all the LDS Temples are beautiful, I still have a special place in my heart for these two temples.

On Friday I was so impressed with how well my kids took in their first temple experience. Lexi was so cute carrying her little temple pamphlet, looking at the pictures and making sure she got to see all the rooms that were in the pictures. She asked questions, commented on how pretty the temple was and said over and over again that this was the most beautiful temple ever. Rowen walked through saying "hello" or "thank you" to all of the temple volunteers. He made little oohs and awes at certain things, and was just a perfect little child. As with all temples, I could feel the spirit there and I knew that my children were also feeling it. I know that Rowen is too young to really remember this experience, but I hope Lexi will. What a great day with my family. My cup is filled. If you are interested in visiting the Oquirrh Mountain Temple you can make reservations at the official website of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. All Faiths are welcome to tour the Oquirrh Mountain Temple during the open house.

I want to add that we had no wait to go through this temple. We were able to go in the morning on a weekday and I believe that made a big difference. The open house is very organized and they even give you refreshments after the tour. The kids loved it! It was a wonderful experience, if you have not gone already I hope you will.

How great! We took our kids to the Draper Temple open house. It's great to have these experiences so close so our kids can actually go inside the temple. :)

We're so excited - we're going to the Oquirrh temple open house in a couple weeks while we're in Utah. I can't wait to take my kids through and see their reactions. I'm also glad to hear the lines are short! ;)

It's interesting how you can have an attachment to a particular temple. Mine is to Bountiful's because I helped out with their open house. It's got that "my temple" feel.
